This is a Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) about R9 Type+Design and its products.

Which Font Licenses do I need?

That depends on how you are planning to use our fonts. If you are going to use them on your computers with software, you need to purchase the Standard Licenses. If you intend to use our fonts on the Internet for styling with CSS rule @font-face (or similar font linking methods) or viewing text lives on websites, you need to purchase the Webfont License. In some circumstances, you may require purchasing more than one type of licenses. For examples, you want to use our Fonts on your computers, and also @font-face link them to display on your website. Then you need to purchase both the Standard and Webfont Licenses.

If you are going to embed our fonts within software or hardware, you need to buy the Embedding License. For more info, please feel free to contact us by clicking the envelope icon at the top right corner.


Can I add more font licenses if my use increases?

Of course, you can purchase additional (Standard, Webfont, or Embedding) licenses at any time, which grant you more rights to use our Fonts. See the applicable End-User License Agreement for details, click here>

Do you offer different licensing agreements than those shown on your website?

Yes, we do. Please contact us by clicking the envelope icon at the top right corner. for more details. We will try our best to tailored our licenses to fit your particular needs. 


When will I receive the fonts?

 

Pretty much immediately after your successful payments. We will email you a unique link to download the fonts. Please keep in mind that the link will be expired 24 hours after the first click. If you have to download the files again after the link expired, please email us the receipt with the email address you used to purchase the font. We will do our best to resend a new link to you as soon as possible.


Can I give my fonts to my client or contractor?

Unfortunately, no. You cannot give the font files to any third party. They have to purchase separate font licenses if they need to use the fonts.


Can I provide the Desktop fonts to the service bureaus?

Yes, you may provide the desktop font files to the service bureaus if it is necessary, but you must make sure that they will delete the font files immediately after the printing job is complete.


Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

 

Unfortunately, no. All font sales are final. With that said, however, if you found any technical issue with the fonts, we will do our best to resolve them. If, after our attempt to solve any technical problems, you are still not pleased with our products, we will be happy to refund your money given that it is within the first 90 days of the purchase. See section 3 on the applicable license agreements for conditions and details.



Standard Licenses (Desktop Fonts) 


What file format will I receive when I purchase the standard license?

You will receive the OpenType .otf file(s) of the Font you bought. If you require other file formats, please feel free to contact us by clicking the envelope icon at the top right corner.


Do the devices that I use or install the Standard License Fonts have to be in the same physical location?

No, they do not need to be in the same physical location, but they all must be within the same organization.


If I purchased a standard license fonts can I use these fonts on the web?

That depends on how you use it on the internet. If you are going to use our webfonts on the Internet for styling (usually with @font-face CSS rule) or viewing live text lives on websites, you need to purchase the Webfont License separately. However, with your standard license fonts, you may create static images such as .jpg and .png to use on the web.



Webfont Licenses (Web Fonts)


What file format will I receive when I purchase the Webfont license?

You will receive the .woff, .woff2 and the .eot files of the Webfont License you bought. If you require other file formats, please feel free to contact us by clicking the envelope icon at the top right corner.


How do I calculate total page views per month?

You can calculate the average monthly page views for your website by adding together the total page views per months of the latest three consecutive months; then divided it by 3.


What is the difference between the Webfont License and the Standard License?

 

Our Webfont License only allows the use of the webfonts on the Internet for styling (usually with @font-face CSS rule) or viewing live text lives on websites. Our Standard License allows you to use or install the fonts on your choice of computers (i.e., desktops, laptops, tablets, mobiles, or workstations). With your standard license fonts, however, you may create static images such as .jpg and .png to use on the web.

Yes, I sure can. Please contact us for details. Please note that I can only adjust the fonts I own the copyrights. I will not be able to alter fonts you purchase from other type foundries.

R9 Type Design Licensing Terms

How you will use our fonts determine which End-User License Agreement (EULA) you required purchasing. If you are going to use the fonts with software/apps on your desktop, laptop or workstation computers, you need the Standard EULA. If you are going to link the fonts with the CSS rule @font-face or other forms of font linking on websites and web pages, you require the Webfonts EULA. Please contact us if you would like to embed our fonts within any hardware or any standalone apps/software packages which require the Dynamic Embedded EULA.

 

Standard End-User License Agreement / January 2017 (V. 1.0)

The following is an Agreement is between You, the purchaser, and R9 Type Design (R9), the type foundry. This Agreement applies to the Standard Digital Typeface Software that is accompanied by this Agreement or that You have ordered online. You are allowed to purchase licensing on behalf of another organization, but you must share this end user license agreement with that organization. By downloading, installing or using the Standard Digital Typeface Software, You (including the organization you may purchase on behalf) agree to acknowledge understanding and promise to comply with its License Agreement terms. If you do not agree to our licensing terms, please do not purchase, download, install or use the digital typeface software.


1. Definitions

1.1 – In this Agreement, “Fonts” or “Font” are defined as the designs of the particular digital typeface and the Software (as shown on your receipt) that comes with the digital typeface designs

1.2 – “You” are defined as a customer who has purchased a license to use the Fonts. You are the End User of the Fonts. Therefore, R9 products may not be distributed and sold to third parties without prior written consent from R9.

1.3 – "Computers" are defined as electronic devices for storing and processing data with the instructions from variable software programs. Computer examples include (but not limited to) desktops, laptops, workstations, tablets and mobile phones.


2. Grant of License
and Restrictions

What you are purchasing from R9 is the non-exclusive License to use Desktop digital typeface software - hereafter “Fonts" - on a certain number of computers within your organization; you are not purchasing the copyright to the design or the code of the particular Fonts, but the rights to use the Fonts.

R9 provide our Standard license Fonts in both OpenType (OTF), and TTF format. Please contact us for details. Our Standard License is one-time, perpetual, and extendable.

2.1 Number of users. – The amount of the standard licenses you purchased will determine the maximum numbers of computers on which you may install the fonts. 

1 standard license: You may use the Fonts on up to 4 computers within your organization;
2 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 10 computers within your organization;
3 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 20 computers within your organization;
4 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 40 computers within your organization;
5 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 60 computers within your organization;
6 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 80 computers within your organization;
7 standard licenses, You may use the Fonts on up to 100 computers within your organization;
8 standard licenses, You may use the Fonts on up to 125 computers within your organization;
9 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 150 computers within your organization;
10 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 175 computers within your organization;
11 standard licenses, You may use the Fonts on up to 200 computers within your organization;
12 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 225 computers within your organization;
13 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 250 computers within your organization;
14 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 275 computers within your organization;
15 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 300 computers within your organization;
16 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 340 computers within your organization;
17 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 380 computers within your organization;
18 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 420 computers within your organization;
19 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 460 computers within your organization;
20 standard licenses: You may use the Fonts on up to 500 computers within your organization

You may add more licenses anytime as need, which allows you the rights to use the Fonts on additional devices, as mentioned above.

2.2 Font Embedding on PDF

You may embed the Fonts in other software files, such as Portable Document Format (PDF), but you must take any possible precautionary steps to ensure that no one can extract the Fonts from the files you create.

2.3 Backup

You may make backup copies of the Fonts for your archive. Any backup copy of the Fonts will contain the same copyright, trademark, and other proprietary information as the original. You will not distribute the Fonts to the third party or anyone outside of your organization. You may provide the desktop font files to the service bureau only if it is necessary, but you must ensure that the service bureau will delete the font files immediately after the printing job is completed.

2.4 @font-face and Webfont Linking

R9 Standard license does not grant you the right to use the Fonts with the @font-face CSS rule, or other font linking methods, regardless of format, are forbidden. You have to purchase a separate Webfont License for this purpose. Click here to purchase our Webfont license>

2.5 Embedding the Fonts within Software or Hardware

Embedding the Standard license Fonts within the software or hardware (such as mobile apps, video games, or OEM products) is prohibited. Please contact us for the Embedding license if you would like to use our fonts with these merchandises.

2.6 Modifications

This License allows You to modify the Fonts for your own use only. However, the copyright remains with R9, and all the agreement terms including the maximum numbers of computers covered by the license remain the same. You may not have a third party altered the Fonts without prior written consent from R9. You must not distribute or sell the modified versions of the Fonts to anyone.

2.7 Restriction as Goods for Sale

This License prohibits the use of our Fonts in the make of alphabet products such as alphabet rubber stamps, alphabet punch, house numbers, and other similar products. Please contact us for a special license if you would like to use our fonts to create these products.

2.8 Good Faith

Upon the completion of purchase, we granted you the right to use the Fonts in good faith; in return, we request you to comply with the terms of this agreement as such to the best of your ability.


3. Warranties and
Limitations

If you found any technical issues with our Fonts, we will do our best to resolve them. If, after our attempt to solve any technical problems, you are still not pleased with our product, we will be happy to refund your money given that it is within the first 90 days of the purchase and you have not used the Fonts on any published or broadcasted work. The refund of your money will be the limit of our liability in this transaction. In no event will R9 or its suppliers be liable to You for any consequential, incidental, or any other damages whatsoever.


4. Termination

R9 reserves the right to terminate Your Standard License immediately if You do not comply with any term of this Agreement. Once terminated, You have 24 hours to delete and destroy all the original and any copies of the Font Software and documentation.


5. Miscellaneous

5.1 Pricing – All prices and payments on this website are in US Dollars.

5.2 Right Reserved – All rights not expressly granted under this License are reserved to R9 Type+Design and Tana Kosiyabong.

5.3 Choice of Law – This Agreement will be ruled by the laws of Canada. We explicitly declare that this Agreement will not be governed by the United Nations Convention of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. 

5.4 – All Fonts available for licensing purchases on the R9 website are properties of Tana Kosiyabong and R9 Type Design, and are copyrighted under © 2016-2017 R9 Type Design. 

5.5 – The numbering of all sections are for convenience only. In no circumstances will this affect or control the interpretation and enforcement of this EULA. Any errors in spelling or grammar may not be used against R9 in the court of law. R9 reserves the right to correct spelling and grammatical error at any time without further notice. This Agreement may not be altered without written consent from R9.



Webfont End-User License Agreement / January 2017 (V. 1.0)

The following is an Agreement is between You, the purchaser, and R9 Type Design (R9), the type foundry. This Agreement applies to the Webfont Digital Typeface Software that is accompanied by this Agreement or that You have ordered online. You are allowed to purchase licensing on behalf of another organization, but you must share this end user license agreement with that organization. By downloading, installing or using the Webfont Digital Typeface Software, You (including the organization you may purchase on behalf) agree to acknowledge understanding and promise to comply with its License Agreement terms. If you do not agree to our Webfont licensing terms, please do not purchase, download, install or use the digital typeface software.


1. Definitions

1.1. In this agreement, “Webfont” is defined as the design of the digital typeface and the Software that has been created, optimized, translated and/or specially modified for use on the Internet for styling or viewing text on a website.

1.2. “You” are defined as a customer who has purchased a license to use the Webfonts and the party that owns the website domain using or planning to use the Webfonts. You are the End User of the Webfonts. Therefore, R9 products may not be distributed and sold to third parties without prior written consent from R9.


2. Grant of License
and Restrictions

What you are purchasing from R9 is the non-exclusive License to serve Webfont digital typeface software - hereafter “Webfonts" - using the CSS rule @font-face for the licensee organization. You may link the Webfonts to multiple domains or sub-domain as long as the total page views are within your licensing limit, and you or your organization must own all of the domains. You do not own the copyright to the design or the code of the particular Webfonts, but the rights to serve the Webfonts. 

R9 provides Webfont license Fonts in Opentype/CFF .woff, .woff2, and Truetype-flavoured .eot. Other Webfont formats are available upon request. Please contact us for details. Our Webfont license is one-time, perpetual, and extendable.

2.1. Total Page Views per Month

When purchasing licensing for Webfonts, you may serve the particular Webfonts to the maximum number of page views across all licensee domains as specified below. You can extend your license at any time, which allows you to serve the particular Webfonts to additional page views.

1 Webfont license: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 25,000 page views per month;
2 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 50,000 page views per month; 
3 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 100,000 page views per month;
4 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 200,000 page views per month; 
5 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 300,000 page views per month; 
6 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 400,000 page views per month; 
7 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 500,000 page views per month; 
8 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 650,000 page views per month; 
9 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 800,000 page views per month; 
10 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 1,000,000 page views per month; 
11 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 2,000,000 page views per month; 
12 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 3,000,000 page views per month; 
13 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 4,000,000 page views per month;
14 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 5,000,000 page views per month; 
15 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 6,000,000 page views per month; 
16 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 7,000,000 page views per month; 
17 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 8,000,000 page views per month; 
18 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 9,000,000 page views per month; 
19 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 10,000,000 page views per month; 
20 Webfont licenses: You may serve the particular Webfonts up to 12,000,000 page views per month; 

You may add more licenses anytime as need, which allows you the rights to serve the Webfonts on the additional total page views per month as stated above.

For licenses beyond 12,000,000 page views per month, please contact us.

If your total page views per month (on all your websites linking to our Webfont combined) has increased beyond the maximum limit for more than three consecutive months, you need to purchase the additional Webfont licenses.

2.2. Webpage Usage Only

Our Webfont license allows you to serve the Webfonts using the CSS rule @font-face or similar font linking methods. You are prohibited to use the Webfonts with any standard desktop, laptop, workstation, tablet, or mobile software without the purchase of standard licensing. R9 provides our Standard License Fonts in .otf format.

2.3. Embedding the Webfonts within the Software or Hardware

Embedding the Webfont license Fonts within the software or hardware (such as mobile apps, video games, or OEM products) is prohibited. Please contact us for the Embedding license if you would like to use our fonts with these merchandises.

2.4. Backup.

You may make backup copies of the Fonts for Your archival purposes. Any backup copy of the Fonts will contain the same copyright, trademark, and other proprietary information as the original. 

2.5. Modifications

You are prohibited to modify, alter, change, convert, or create and derivative works of the Webfonts.

2.6. Good Faith

Upon the completion of purchase, we granted you the right to use the Webfonts in good faith; in return, we request you to comply with the terms of this agreement as such to the best of your ability.


3. Warranties and
Limitations

If you found any technical issues with our Webfonts, we will do our best to resolve them. If, after our attempt to solve any technical problems, you are still not pleased with our product, we will be happy to refund your money given that it is within the first 90 days of the purchase and you have not served the Webfonts live to the public. The return of your money will be the limit of our liability in this transaction. In no circumstances will R9 or its suppliers be liable to You for any consequential, incidental, or any other damages whatsoever.


4. Termination

R9 reserves the right to terminate Your Webfont License immediately if You do not comply with any term of this Agreement. Once terminated, You have 24 hours to delete and destroy all the original and any copies of the Webfont Software and documentation.


5. Miscellaneous

5.1 Pricing – All prices and payments on this website are in US Dollars.

5.2 Right Reserved – All rights not expressly granted under this License are reserved to R9 Type + Design and Tana Kosiyabong.

5.3 Choice of Law – This Agreement will be ruled by the laws of Canada. We explicitly declare that this Agreement will not be governed by the United Nations Convention of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. 

5.4 – All Webfonts available for licensing purchases on the R9 website are properties of Tana Kosiyabong and R9 Type+Design, and are copyrighted under © 2016-2017 Tana Kosiyabong & R9 Type+Design. 

5.5 – The numbering of all sections are for convenience only. In no circumstances will this affect or control the interpretation and enforcement of this EULA. Any errors in spelling or grammar may not be used against R9 in the court of law. R9 reserves the right to correct spelling and grammatical error at any time without further notice. Free/Pay-What-You-Want End-User License Agreement / April 2017 (V. 1.0)

The following is an Agreement is between You, the purchaser, and R9 Type+Design (R9), the type foundry. This Agreement applies to the Free/Pay-What-You-Want Digital Typeface Software that is accompanied by this Agreement or that You have ordered online.The Free/Pay-What-You-Want allows you to use our fonts for personal uses only. For commercial uses, please purchase our Standard Licenses available on https://r9typedesign.com. By downloading, installing or using the Standard Digital Typeface Software, You agree to acknowledge understanding and promise to comply with its License Agreement terms. If you do not agree to our licensing terms, please do not purchase, download, install or use the digital typeface software.

5.1 Right Reserved – All rights not expressly granted under this License are reserved to R9 Type+Design and Tana Kosiyabong.
